Real Madrid icon, Ronaldo Nazario once listed his four all-time greatest players, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi making the cut.

Owing to his status as one of the greatest, Ronaldo seamlessly moved between Barca and Real Madrid with minimal scrutiny, unlike Luis Figo.

During his stint with Inter Milan, Ronaldo faced severe setbacks, enduring two debilitating knee injuries partly due to degeneration, posing a threat to his entire career, per Sportbible.

His triumphant return to win the 2002 FIFA World Cup with Brazil and dazzling in the renowned Real Madrid Galacticos team showcased his exceptional natural talent.

Given his extraordinary journey in football, Ronaldo stands in a unique position to assess the greatest players he has witnessed throughout the history of the sport.

Ronaldo names his four GOATs

Addressing a media gathering organised by Santander Bank in 2021, as quoted by Goal, he included Lionel Messi among the four greatest of all time and threw in Cristiano Ronaldo for good measure.

He said: "For me, in the classification of the best in history, the four names would be Pele, [Diego] Maradona, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo. They are the top four in the history of football."

While there is no disputing the players the Brazilian icon selected, there are some significant omissions in his list.

Players such as Michel Platini, Alfredo Di Stefano, Zinedine Zidane, George Best, and Ferenc Puskas may understandably feel overlooked by Ronaldo.
