  • Manchester United have registered four wins in five of their last Premier League matches
  • Their latest outing ended in a 1-0 win over Luton Town on Saturday
  • The win fired the Red Devils to sixth in the Premier League standings

Manchester United fans have called out Erik ten Hag over his 'top four' comments after his side's 1-0 vital win over Luton Town.

United have enjoyed a mini-resurgence in the Premier League in recent weeks, having won four of their last five fixtures in the division.

The Red Devils' most recent victory came against struggling Luton Town at Old Trafford on Saturday, November 11.

According to Sky Sports, Victor Lindelof was United's unlikely hero during the encounter, with the Swede scoring the only goal of the match that earned the hosts all the three points.

The victory catapulted the Old Trafford dwellers to sixth in the standings with 21 points, just three off the top four.

Speaking after the match, an elated ten Hag noted that his side are now in a better position to make it into the Champions League spot.

"Once we start playing well, I think we will be in the competition for top five / top four."

Fans call out teg Hag over post-match comments

However, ten Hag's sentiments did not go down well with a section of United supporters, with Sportbible reporting that a good number of them have laid into the Dutchman.

@LondonIsRedCom wondered:

"Right, so top 4 is the target now. What about the United fans who are saying they are just 6 points behind the league topper? What happens to their expectations."

@QuindariousPriv noted:

"Top 4 talk in NOVEMBER deserves an instant sack at a club like United."

@utdHarryy added:

"Top 4 talk and we’re only in November. Ten Haag is lowering the standards, not raising them."

Man Utd set unwanted UCL record

Sports Brief also reported on United setting an unwanted UCL record after their 4-3 loss to Copenhagen, in which they conceded one of their goals from the penalty spot.

They have conceded one penalty each in their four group games this season, and two have been scored; Andre Onana saved one, while Mauro Icardi missed the other.
