  • Kylian Mbappe is enjoying another fine season with Paris Saint-Germain
  • His hat-trick on Saturday against Reims took his Ligue 1 tally to 13 goals
  • It also saw him become the player with the most hat-tricks since 2000, surpassing Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Kylian Mbappe bagged a hat-trick to help Paris Saint-Germain beat Reaims 3-0 away from home.

The three goals took Mbappe's tally for the season to 13 in 11 Ligue 1 matches. His hat-trick saw him surpass Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Ligue 1 record.

The win was PSG's fifth straight in Ligue 1, which saw them go top of the table after 12 games, a point ahead of Nice.

Mbappe's first goal was almost like the one he scored in the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar in December. Ousmane Dembele fired a superb cross into the box, and Mbappe converted it with a spectacular volley in the 3rd minute.

He then tapped in Carlos Soler's cross for his second in the 58th minute before completing his hat-trick in the 82nd minute.

He is on track to win his 6th Ligue 1 Golden Boot this season.

Mbappe makes Ligue 1 history

After his treble against Reims, he now has the most hat-tricks in Ligue 1 since 2000 with eight. He surpassed PSG legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who had seven hat-tricks since 2000, per Squawka.

Moreover, this was Mbappe's 16th career hat-trick. His most famous one is the one he had in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final in Qatar last year.

So far this season, in all competitions, he has 15 goals in 15 games for PSG and 18 goals in 16 matches for club and country.

Luis Enrique unhappy with Mbappe

Sports Brief earlier reported on PSG boss Luis Enrique expressing his displeasure with Mbappe despite the Frenchman scoring a hat-trick.

"I'm not really happy with Kylian Mbappe today. On the goals, I have nothing to say. But he can help the team more, in a different way."

Mbappe had a highly publicized contract dispute with the club in the summer, and it was temporarily solved, and Enqique's word could be a problem.
