  • Kieran Trippier had a heated exchange with Newcastle fans after defeat to Bournemouth
  • The defender was seen on video retorting to the fans who faulted players for the defeat
  • The Magpies slipped to seventh on the log as a result of the loss

Kieran Trippier was caught on video having a heated exchange with Newcastle fans after The Magpies suffered an away defeat to Bournemouth.

Dominik Solanke’s brace was enough to seal victory for The Cherries, and defeat piled more misery on the travelling Newcastle fans, who saw their side lose by the same scoreline to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League days earlier.

After the full-time whistle at the Vitality stadium, some travelling fans tried to engage Trippier by faulting the team’s performance.

But the former Tottenham man was having none of it, and he responded by passionately expressing the current state of the team.

In the video, shared by Fabrizio Romano, Trippier can be heard asking the fans "Are the lads not giving anything? How many injuries have we got."

Eventually, Trippier was dragged away by his teammate Joelinton before the situation escalated.

Newcastle injury woes

Heading into the Bournemouth game, Newcastle had a host of injuries, with as many as 11 senior players out of the squad.

Harvey Barnes, Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson, Sven Botman and Dan Burn are all sidelined for Eddie Howe’s men, who faced Bournemouth without Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali, who remain suspended.

Such deep injury problems for the side prompted Eddie Howe to hand debuts to Lewis Miley and Ben Parkinson.

The only good news for The Magpies is that Guimaraes will return to action against Chelsea in the next game after serving a one-match ban.
