Nathan Tella: Bayer Leverkusen Star Reacts to Maiden Super Eagles Invitation

Bayer Leverkusen star Nathan Tella has expressed delight following his maiden invitation to the Nigerian national team.

Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro named the 24-year-old in his 23-man list for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria will host the Crocodiles of Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on Thursday, November 16 and then take on the Warriors of Zimbabwe four days later in Rwanda.

Tella was born in England to parents of Nigerian descent and is eligible to feature in any of the countries.

He, however, indicated interest in playing for his fatherland, and his performances at club level have been rewarded.

Having received an invitation ahead of the World Cup qualifiers, Tella stated that it is his dream come true. He told Bayer Leverkusen’s website via Complete Sports:

“It’s a great feeling and a great opportunity for me. As a young boy and a footballer, you dream of representing your own country – and now I finally have the opportunity to do so. and I’m really looking forward to it.”

Nahan Tella’s professional career

Last year, he was rewarded with a fresh three-and-a-half contract with Southampton, which would have seen him remain at the club until 2025.

He then moved to join Burnley on a season-long loan in August 2022.

After just one season, Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen announced the signing of Tella on a five-year contract for a reported fee of around £20 million.

Boniface linked with Real Madrid transfer

Sports Brief earlier reported that Super Eagles star, Victor Boniface has reacted after being linked with a sensational transfer move to La Liga giants, Real Madrid in the summer.

The Nigerian international has been one of the revelations of the season in the top five European leagues, catching the eyes of many big clubs.

Boniface is rated as one of the best strikers of the moment, alongside the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and his compatriot Victor Osimhen.
