Mikel Obi spent most of his playing career at Chelsea and explained the difference between the top two managers he played for during his 11 years at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel joined Chelsea in 2006 after starring at the 2005 FIFA U20 World Cup in the Netherlands, where he was named the second-best player behind Argentina's Lionel Messi.

He ditched Manchester United to sign for their Premier League rivals and first worked under Jose Mourinho before the Portuguese manager was sacked months later.

He won his first league title under Carlo Ancelotti in the 2009/2010 season before winning his second during the second spell of Mourinho in the 2014/15 season.

Per Transfermarkt, the former Nigerian international played the most games under the two bosses, 119 for the Special One and 72 for the Real Madrid boss.

Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT, the 36-year-old stated the difference between the top managers.

"Tactically and a manager who brings out the best in you and knows how to get the best out of you, obviously Jose Mourinho, but the manager who gave us the freedom to be able to express ourselves, man management Carlo Ancelotti," he said.

Antonio Conte ended Mikel's time at Chelsea. During an interview with The Athletic in 2021, he disclosed how his involvement with the national team led to the fallout with the Italian.

He also claimed to have respect for Roberto Di Matteo, under whom he won the UEFA Champions League in 2012.
