He used to be a professional goalie in Brazil but has since retired. Inter Milan, the Italian club that Júlio César played for seven years, won five Scudetti during his time there, the UEFA Champions League in 2009–10 and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2010.

Both in 2009 and 2010, he was named Serie A's Goalkeeper of the Year. In 2009, he was also a finalist for the Ballon d'Or and finished in 21st position. César began his professional career with Flamengo in 1997, and he spent the next seven years making 285 appearances for them before temporarily leaving for Chievo. This transfer was undertaken to meet restrictions before shifting a year into the most fruitful spell of his career with Inter Milan.

Five Italian Football Championships, one UEFA Champions League, and one Fifa Club World Cup all went to Julio Cesar during his time at Inter Milan. After joining QPR of the Premier League, Cesar signed with Benfica before saying goodbye to his fans at Flamego and retiring in 2018.

His spectacular career began on day one, and his seven-year stint with Inter Milan, during which he made 300 games, spoke to his value to the club. Over the same period, he helped the club win 14 titles. Cesar was selected to compete on the national team 87 times between 2004 and 2014, a true honour for any athlete.
