Super Eagles star, Calvin Bassey has showered praise on Manchester United defender Harry Maguire after coming up against him in the English Premier League recently.
The Nigerian international was in the same team as the England international a few years ago, but they now represent different club sides.
The former Ajax defender and the Red Devils star were once on the books of Leicester City, with the Super Eagles player coming through the ranks of the Foxes.
Maguire left the Foxes for United in 2019, while Bassey left a year later for Scottish giants Rangers.
In an interview with the Mirror, the Nigerian defender labelled the England international as a quality player and also claimed he looked up to him during their time at Leicester City, according to a report by Complete Sports.
"At the time, I was coming through the ranks, and he was one of the players I looked up to and still do, he’s a quality player," he said.
"Now that I am playing on the opposite side [Fulham], he plays on the opposite side [Manchester United], just giving me some advice like any top player would.
"He was incredible at Leicester City and still is. To do what he did for Leicester was amazing."
The former Rangers defender came up against Maguire last weekend when Manchester United faced Fulham in the English top flight.
A late goal from Portuguese international Bruno Fernandes gave the Red Devils the win over the Cottagers.
