AmaZulu FC chairman, Sandile Zungu has disclosed the role Bonginkosi Ntuli played in allowing his family to buy Usuthu in 2020.
The 32-year-old striker died tragically on Sunday after losing the battle with cancer.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns star was at the peak of his popularity after marrying the Chief Executive Officer of AmaZulu, Sinenjabulo Zungu a few months ago.
Zungu, while paying his tributes to Ntuli, narrated how the striker's performance in keeping AmaZulu in the top flight allowed him to buy the club, according to FAR Post.
"It’s very difficult to ever forget about Bonginkosi Ntuli. He’s one of those rare breeds of strikers who can carry a lot of weight on their shoulders," the club chief explained.
"It will be remembered that when AmaZulu faced relegation, he almost single-handedly delivered all the goals that rescued [the club] and ensured that it remained in the top flight."
The Usuthu chairman stated he wasn't certain his family could have taken over the club if they had been relegated from the South African top flight that season.
"We owe our buying into AmaZulu to the efforts of people like Ntuli and other colleagues of his, who played a superb role in lifting the team," he concluded.
Since news of Ntuli's death broke a few days earlier, many have paid tribute to the AmaZulu striker and lamented the tragic circumstances of his passing.
