Banyana Ba Style are on a quest for continental greatness.

They came out of their first test unscathed in the first group game of the tournament being held in Ivory Coast.

This is the Sundowns Ladies' third Champions League event and have now won six of their seven group games since the tournament was initiated.

A goal in the first half from Lebogang Ramalepe and a second after half-time by Tholakele ensured their first three points.

The COSAFA champions were composed and coherent as they dominated the first half. Ramalepe capped off the half five minutes before half-time with a close-range finish after a flowing team move.

Tholakele put the South African nail in the Tanzanian coffin in a similar fashion to wrap up a solid start to the competition.

Speaking after the game, Coach Jerry Tshabalala told SundownsFC:

"We wanted to control possession and create opportunities and our players executed that strategy brilliantly. I am proud of my team’s performance and we will continue to work on our fitness and tactics as the tournament progresses."

Defender, Karabo Makhurubteshi, spoke of the importance of keeping a clean sheet, saying:

"I am proud of the overall team performance because we played for each other and it was a team effort from start to finish. We know what is at stake and everyone is determined to go all the way to win the trophy.”

Sundowns Ladies will next play Sporting Casablanca on November 8 followed by Athletico Abidjan on November 11. The semi-finals and final are scheduled for November 15 and 18, respectively.

The Samba Ladies will surely be looking to emulate their male counterparts by reaching the finals of a continental inter-club competition, with Sundowns' senior male team currently set for a second-leg nervy final showdown with Wydad Casablanca.
