  • James Maddison and John Terry exchanged comments after Chelsea's win over Tottenham
  • The Chelsea legend took to social media to celebrate his former side's win in a London derby
  • Maddison lasted only 45 minutes before he was taken off with an apparent injury

James Maddison snapped back at John Terry following Tottenham Hotspur's 4-1 loss to Chelsea on November 6.

The two clubs were involved in the most chaotic Premier League game in recent times. Spurs finished the game with nine men after Christian Romero and Destiny Udogie were sent off either side of the break.

The game also had five disallowed goals, with Chelsea finally taking advantage of their superior numerical advantage in the second half. Nicolas Jackson bagged his first hat-trick as Blues player.

Terry, who is arguably the greatest captain in Chelsea's history, took to Instagram to celebrate his side's victory in North London, saying;

"When Chelsea FC beat Spurs 4-1 on a school night, and the tequila comes out, and you end up dancing and singing on the bar."

The former England international posted a video with his wife, Toni, as they sipped tequila with music playing in the background.

Maddison did not take the comment lying down and chose to respond to Terry in the comment box;

"Jesus, you had your eyes closed when it was 11 v 11 first 15 JT?"

Admittedly, the first quarter hour was marked by Spurs dominance in which Dejan Kulusevski opened the scoring in the 6th minute. Heung-min Son thought he had bagged a second, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

The game went downhill for Ange Postecoglou's men when Romero was sent off for a dangerous tackle on Enzo Fernandez. Apart from the red cards, Spurs also lost two of their key players, with Maddison himself and Micky van de Ven limping off in first-half stoppage time.

Terry then fired back at the former Leicester City man, telling him he will get used to it.

The result leaves Tottenham in second place with 26 points a point behind defending champions Manchester City. Chelsea climbed up to 10th on the standings ahead of their showdown against Pep Guardiola's side this weekend.
