Portuguese defender, Pepe has etched his name in the history books of the UEFA Champions League by becoming the competition's oldest goal-scorer.
The centre-back's towering header in the dying moments of the match secured a victory for Porto over Royal Antwerp to see them atop Group H.
At the age of 40 years and 254 days, Pepe's thunderous 91st-minute strike marked a milestone as he became the first player to score in European football's premier tournament while in his 40s.
This achievement surpassed the previous record held by Francesco Totti, who scored at the age of 38 years and 59 days, BBC reported.
Not only did Pepe claim the title of the oldest goal-scorer, but he also holds the distinction of being the oldest outfield player in the history of the competition.
According to Eurosport, the former Real Madrid central defender established this record when he took the field against the same opponents on October 25.
The oldest appearance-maker in the UCL is Marco Ballotta, who was 43 years and 252 days old when he featured for Lazio against Real Madrid in December 2007.
