- They had a conversation after Haaland won the Gerd Muller trophy at the Ballon d'Or ceremony
Erling Haaland has chosen between Chelsea legend Didier Drogba and English pundit Gary Lineker's celebration after scoring his first goal since the Ballon d'Or ceremony.
Haaland was beaten to the 2023 Ballon d'Or by Lionel Messi, but he picked up the Gerd Muller trophy for the best striker, scoring 56 goals in the year under review.
His award was presented to him by former England international Gary Lineker, who is a constant presence in the punditry space of English football.
As seen in a video shared on social media, event host Drogba asked the Manchester City striker to choose between his celebration and Lineker's for his next goal.
Haaland chooses Drogba's celebration
The Norwegian did not get on the scoresheet at the weekend despite City scoring six goals, as he was substituted at halftime after taking a knock and had to be protected.
He recovered in time to make the starting lineup against Young Boys in the UEFA Champions, and after opening the scoring, he acted on his promise of "we'd see in the next goal" made at the event in Paris.
Per TNT Sports, Haaland chose the Ivorian legend's celebration after scoring the penalty, a gesture widely appraised by Chelsea fans who cheekily claimed their former player is his idol.
