The 5 best possibilities for Kaizer Chiefs as they search for long-term replacement
FootballSiyabonga Nomvethe Raises Alarm As Namibian Striker Shalulile Closes In on PSL Goals Record
- Peter Shalulile has continued with his impressive scoring form in the South African topflight, prompting Siyabonga Nomvethe to raise an alarm
- The Namibian striker has now netted 109 goals in the PSL, as he closes in on a record set by the Bafana Bafana legend
- Nomvethe wants local South African forwards to be more lethal in front of goal, as a foreigner inches closer to his record
Former Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs forward, Siyabonga Nomvethe, is unimpressed with South African strikers.
Nomvethe holds a staggering PSL record of 123 goals, having featured for Pirates, African Wanderers, Moroka Swallows, and AmaZulu.
However, Namibian superstar Peter Shalulile is closing in on the record after netting 109 goals in the South African top flight.
iDiski Times reports that Mabhuti Khenyeza, who was Bhele’s teammate at AmaZulu, is joint-second top scorer with Daniel Mudau on 110 goals. Bradley Grobler is on 104 goals.
Nomvethe wants local strikers to be more lethal in front of goal, adding that it would not be nice if a foreigner breaks his long-standing record.
He said:
“He (Shalulile) is coming very close.
“But he is talented, he works hard and there is no denying that fact. He knows what he is doing because our own strikers in South Africa should be the ones who are scoring the goals.
“Every time there is a foreigner that comes to our league, they do well and it tells you that our own strikers are weak. I just hope he won’t come closer to it.”
While Bhele’s record is under threat, however, he contributed a lot for Bafana Bafana.
