Veteran defender, Marcelo has continued to celebrate his Copa Libertadores success in style, after helping boyhood club, Fluminense to victory over Boca Juniors on Saturday night.

The ex-Real Madrid defender started for the Brazilian outfit, lasting 80 minutes as John Kennedy scored in extra time to clinch Time de Guerreiros' first-ever triumph in the competition.

The fiercely-contested final at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro was forced into extra time after Boca Juniors' Luis Advíncula cancelled out a first-half goal from German Cano.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media, Marcelo was spotted dancing in the dressing room afterwards, as he fulfilled his boyhood dream of winning the competition with Fluminense.

The 35-year-old has now won six champions league titles - including five in Europe with Real Madrid.

Marcelo started his career with Fluminense in 2005 and left for Spain in 2007, where he joined Los Blancos.

In 15 years at Real Madrid, he helped the side to six La Liga titles, five Spanish Super Cups, and two Copa del Rey to add to the five UCL victories.

Marcelo returned to Fluminense in 2023 after a short stint in Greece with Olympiacos FC, per Transfermarkt.

Marcelo inspires Fluminense to Copa win

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on former Real Madrid defender, Marcelo winning the Copa Libertadores, the South American version of the Champions League.

A John Kennedy extra-time winner decided a fierce encounter with Boca Juniors at the Maracana Stadium, with two players including the goal-scorer sent off.

Marcelo, who joined the Brazilian outfit after an illustrious career with Real Madrid and Olympiacos in Europe, added more silverware to his trophy cabinet.

Sports Brief also reported on Marcelo insisting Copa Libertadores is bigger than the UEFA Champions League after winning the competition with Fluminense.

The Brazilian left-back played a pivotal role for his boyhood club as they defeated Boca Juniors 2-1 to win the competition for the first time in their history.
