South African celebrities have paid tribute to AmaZulu FC striker Bonginkosi "Bongi" Ntuli, who died after losing a short battle with cancer.

The striker's death was confirmed in an official statement released by AmaZulu FC on Sunday afternoon.

The 32-year-old was AmaZulu's captain and recently got married to the club's CEO, Sinenjabulo Zungu.

The death of the South African striker stirred a lot of sad reactions on social media, especially from celebrity friends, industry colleagues and football fans in general, according to Times LIVE.

Singer Dumi Mkokstad said:

How Bongi Ntuli passed away

Sports Brief earlier reported that AmaZulu FC forward Bonginkosi Ntuli tragically lost his battle with cancer.

The 32-year-old, who was also captain of the club, passed away at the Midlands Medical Centre in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday afternoon, November 5.

The striker was rushed to the private hospital just before a game against Polokwane City around a month ago, where he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer.
