FootballDarwin Nunez Produces Miss of The Season Contender vs Luton, Salah Couldn't Believe It
- Darwin Nunez produced a miss-of-the-season contender for Liverpool against Luton
- The Reds dropped crucial points in the 1-1 draw on Sunday, November 5
- Nunez’s miss was so unbelievable that Mohamed Salah appeared to fall to the ground in despair
Mohamed Salah could hardly believe it after his teammate Darwin Nunez produced one of the most outrageous misses you will see all season.
Nunez is the gift that keeps giving for Liverpool as he always appears to blow hot and cold in terms of his performances.
The Uruguay international’s Liverpool stint has been full of highs and lows since his £65 million move from Benfica, but there has been significant improvement this season in his all-round game.
According to Transfermakt, Nunez has an impressive 12 goals and assists in seven starts this season, which is a decent turnaround as he has a higher goal-per-game ratio than Erling Haaland.
However, despite the positives, Nunez is developing an infamous reputation for finding the back of the net from difficult positions, while missing sitters at the same time.
This was the case on Sunday when Liverpool faced Luton Town, seeking three points against their struggling opponents.
With the scores deadlocked at 0-0, Trent Alexander Arnold sent a cross to Mohamed Salah in the 69th minute, and the Egyptian found Nunez on the opposite post.
As cited on BBC, Nunez only had to get his shot on target to score, but the 23-year-old somehow blasted his effort over the bar, sending the entire stadium, including Jurgen Klopp, gasping in disbelief.
Perhaps Salah was the most disappointed of the bunch, as he witnessed the miss from a few yards away. The Liverpool ace could only crumble down in despair. You can watch the video of his reaction below:
Luton took a deserved lead in the 80th minute through Tahith Chong who steered in Issa Kabore's cross.
