- Arsenal are among the favourites to challenge for the Premier League title this season
- However, Carragher contends two key positions could deny them the chance to lift the trophy
- The Gunners currently sit third in the Premier League standings with 24 points from 11 games
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has claimed that there are two key positions that could cost Arsenal the Premier League title.
The Gunners are among the favourites to challenge for the domestic crown after an impressive start to this season.
Mikel Arteta's charges have lost only once in 11 league outings so far this term, with their only defeat coming against Newcastle United on Saturday.
talkSPORT reports that Anthony Gordon's controversial second-half goal was the only difference at St. James' Park as the Magpies held firm to claim maximum points.
Arsenal's defeat leaves them sitting third in the Premier League standings with 24 points, three points off the top spot.
Carragher's warning to Arsenal
Carragher has now sent the north Londoners a fiery warning in their bid to win the Premier League title, claiming two key positions could deny them a chance at glory.
According to the former England international, goalkeeper David Raya and a lack of a prolific striker could cost them the crown.
"I feel like I’m watching a different team. They’re more solid defensively, but they’re not as fluid and they’re creating as many chances," Carragher told Sky Sports, as quoted by Metro UK.
Have Arsenal got a centre-forward and a goalkeeper who can win you the league? I don’t think they have. When you think of vital positions where teams win leagues, it’s in both boxes," he added.
EPL explain Newcastle vs Arsenal VAR decision
Sports Brief has also reported that former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher has lifted the lid on why the VAR allowed the goal to stand.
"The whole of the ball has to be over the whole of the line. You can look at it from that angle, and it is impossible to tell," he told the league's website.
