Ronaldo Nazario led an esteemed group of football luminaries in endorsing Jude Bellingham as the recipient of the 2023 Kopa Trophy at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday.
The Real Madrid midfielder triumphed over tough competition from childhood friend and Bayern Munich sensation Jamal Musiala, as well as Barcelona prodigy Pedri.

What is the Kopa Trophy?
The Kopa Trophy, an award category that celebrates the most outstanding footballer under the age of 21, was initially established in 2018, with Kylian Mbappe being the inaugural recipient.
Matthijs De Ligt secured the honour in 2019, while the 2021 and 2022 editions were claimed by Barcelona's promising talents Pedri and Gavi, respectively.
According to Eurosport, Bellingham became the first Englishman to win the coveted trophy, winning the fifth edition this year.
Ronaldo leads legends who voted for Bellingham
A jury of all former Ballon d'Or winners selects the winner. Each jury ranks their top 3 players, with the first choice getting 3 points, the second scooping 2 points, and the third choice securing a solitary point, per All Football.
While Lionel Messi, who won an unprecedented eight Ballon d'Or Awards, voted for Musiala as his first choice, two-time recipient Ronaldo Nazario and a host of football royalty chose Bellingham instead.

Bellingham wins Kopa Trophy
