Knockout glory is more than just luck of the draw.

Golden Arrows will aim to go one step closer to a trophy celebration this weekend in the Carling Knockout Cup.

Standing in their way in the quarter-finals are Amazulu, who themselves will be eager to impress in the KZN derby.

Golden Arrows have not lifted a trophy since a memorable night at Orlando Stadium when they hammered Ajax Cape Town 6-0 in the 2009 MTN8 final.

The omens are favourable too, as they defeated Amazulu 4-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals of that competition en route to the title.

Abafana Bes’thende's form could not be much better as they are unbeaten in their last six matches and have only lost once this season, back in early August to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mabhuti Khenyeza is cultivating a reputation of being a disciplined tactician who demands a strong work ethic. As quoted by SowetanLive, Khenyeza said:

"As a coach, I have created that because based on my playing days and experience, I always wanted more all the time. The only thing I can assure you is we are hungry enough and we want to achieve everything we want."

In Amazulu, Arrows have an opponent that has drawn six league matches this season. Amazulu FC quoted Pablo Martin, who said:

“We are finding it hard to convert but the whole thing is we are competitive. We are having chances which is the most important thing. Hopefully, our players are going to improve and they are going to score the chances they are having.”

Arrows kickoff against Amazulu at 7 pm, which follows the first part of the doubleheader at Moses Mabhida Stadium with Richards Bay against Orlando Pirates scheduled for 3 pm.
