Erik ten Hag: Fans react after Manchester United boss is spotted agitated vs Sheffield United
FootballMason Greenwood Scores Twice for Getafe as Man United Fans All Say the Same Thing
- Mason Greenwood was on target with two goals for Getafe in a 12-0 win
- The England international scored in the 15th and 55th minutes against sixth-tier side Tardienta
- His brace came on the same day that Manchester United were thrashed 3-0 by Newcastle United
Manchester United fans were on social media with the same sentiments after Mason Greenwood scored twice on the same day that the Red Devils crashed out of the Carabao Cup.
Getafe were one of two La Liga clubs to run riot in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, as they emerged 12-0 winners over sixth-division side Tardienta.
Greenwood’s first goal was a close-range tap-in after he was left unmarked thanks to some shoddy defending from Tardienta.
His second goal, however, showed glimpses of the England international’s talent as he went on a blistering run before a one-two with his teammate, who set him up to find the bottom corner.
The 22-year-old could have gotten a hat-trick, but his low strike was disallowed by the referee for offside.
As cited on ESPN, his second goal put Getafe 6-0 up, and the Spanish outfit went on to score six more in the rout.
Greenwood wins as Man United struggles continue
In what was a cruel coincidence, Greenwood’s flawless game came on the same day his parent club Manchester United hit a new low.
United, who decided against retaining Greenwood and instead sent him out on loan, were comprehensively beaten 3-0 by Newcastle United thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall, and Joe Willock, as reported by the BBC.
Fans who kept tabs on both games could not help but spot the irony, as United’s bluntness in front of goal extended to two games, while a player considered one of the most promising attackers in football was allowed to leave on loan.
