- John Terry played under Jose Mourinho across the Portuguese's two stints with Chelsea
- Despite their cordial relationship, the pair did clash at one time
- This happened in the run-up to the 2015/16 campaign, with Mourinho threatening to replace the Englishman
Chelsea legend John Terry has narrated when he clashed with Jose Mourinho during their time together at Stamford Bridge.
Terry played under the legendary Portuguese manager on two occasions, with the first spell happening between 2004 and 2007.
Mourinho went on to manage Inter Milan and Real Madrid afterwards before he made an emotional return to Stamford Bridge in 2013.
While the 60-year-old enjoyed a cordial relationship with Terry during both stints, the two actually clashed at one time.
Speaking on John Obi Mikel's new podcast, Terry narrated how the Roma boss called him out alongside Gary Cahill before the rest of the squad ahead of the 2015/16 campaign.
According to the former England international, the atmosphere was so tense that Mourinho threatened to replace him with Man United centre-back Raphael Varane, who was at Real Madrid at the time.
"I'm the captain and Gaz is vice-captain, we'd just won the league the year before and he goes 'you two, you can f**k off. I'll go and sign Varane and another top defender in the world for £100million and you two can sit on the bench and watch them'," Terry recalled as quoted by Sportbible.
"Me and Gaz are like 'f**king hell' we won the league last year! We couldn't believe it.
"The level in training went up and the new players went 'oh my god, he's just battered the captain and vice-captain. He's in charge," he added.
