Chelsea and Liverpool have discovered their opponents for the quarter-final round of the Carabao Cup. The two Premier League giants booked their respective places in the next round of the tournament on Wednesday night.
The Blues silenced Blackburn Rovers 2-0 at Stamford Bridge in their last 16 match, with goals from Benoit Badiashile and Raheem Sterling finding the back of the net.
Liverpool, meanwhile, stunned Premier League rivals Bournemouth 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium, with Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez sending the Reds to the quarter-final.
Elsewhere, Newcastle hammered Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford in their own fixture to bundle the defending champions out of the tournament.
According to SportBible, goals from Miguel Almiron, Lewis Hall, and Joe Willock sealed the win for the Magpies over the Red Devils.
Carabao Cup quarter-final draw
Chelsea's qualification for the next round will see them face Newcastle in the last eight, while Liverpool will face West Ham United, who beat Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Everton are scheduled to play Fulham, while Port Vale - who are the lowest-ranked team still in the competition - are set to host Middlesbrough.
Metro UK reports that the Carabao Cup quarter-final ties will take place in the week commencing December 18.
