Ilkay Gundogan’s wife has addressed the rumours of a rift between the Germany midfielder and Barcelona following the fallout of their defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday, October 28.
The former Manchester City midfielder was vocally critical of his teammates following their reaction to the 2-1 defeat in the El Clasico, sparking rumours of problems between him and his new club.
According to Sportskeeda, Gundogan’s wife, Sara Arfaoui, has now taken to social media to deny the rumours of a rift between her husband and his Barcelona, especially after he walked out of a team photo op at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony.
“We are really happy. We love the people, the club, the city – everything. We are really happy and have had so much support from the club and the staff."
Gundogan joined Barcelona on a free transfer this summer after leading Manchester City to the FA Cup, English Premier League and UEFA Champions League titles last season.
