Lionel Messi was not at his best on Saturday, December 5, as Catalan giants Barcelona were defeated 2-1 by newly promoted La Liga side Cadiz.
It was another catastrophic performance by the Blaugrana who now drop to 7th position on the Spanish top-flight standings.
Barcelona are yet to recover from the 8-2 Champions League loss to Bayern Munich at the end of last season which saw Messi initially tender his transfer request.
Manager Quique Setien was fired and replaced by Dutchman Ronald Koeman but the club’s woes continue, however, the loss to Cadiz is a new low.
Álvaro Giménez had opened the scoring as early as the 8th minute to put the hosts ahead and Barcelona restored parity via an own goal, but the Catalans were stunned by Alvaro Negredo who grabbed the late winner in spectacular fashion.
The defeat to Caziz comes despite Barcelona fielding their best players including the trio of Lionel Messi, Antoine Griezmann and Philippe Coutinho upfront.
And the failure of this world-class line-up to even claim a point from the Nuevo Estadio Ramon de Carranza had Koeman pulling his hair out in the post-match interviews, according to the Dailymail. He said:
"We lost due to an unexpected mistake that you cannot make. It came from not being focused. The attitude wasn't good tonight, and not just from the defenders.
"It's very hard to explain some of the goals that we've conceded. I think it might be because of a lack of concentration. We lack aggression without the ball. That might be why we concede."

FootballMeanwhile, Barcelona have commenced the process of immortalising their captain Messi after unveiling his statue at the club's wax museum.
The 33-year-old has spent his entire senior career at the Nou Camp and could walk out of the team at the end of this season.
And Legit.ng earlier reported that Real Madrid managed a 1-0 win away from home as they defeated Sevila right at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium in their Match Day 12 of the La Liga season.
Real Madrid grabbed the only goal of the game in the 56th minute following a lovely move by Benzema laying it off to Mendy, who ran down the left and crossed low, and Vinicius sprinted to beat his man and slid the ball past Bounou; 0-1.
