A goal each from Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Phillips and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were all Liverpool needed to outclass Burnley at Turf Moor in their penultimate Premier League game this season.

The triumph gave the Reds the confidence that they can qualify for the Champions League next season if they avoid defeat in their final game of the season.

Although the Merseyside outfit is on the same point as Leicester City, the Anfield side has a better goal difference which is the reason they are now fourth on the table.

The game seemed balanced at the start of the encounter but Firmino would not allow the first half to end without a goal as the Brazilian opened the scoring in the 43rd minute.

Seven minutes into the second half, Phillips doubled the visitors' lead with Sadio Mane providing the assist for the goal.

Meanwhile, Oxlade-Chamberlain who came in for Firmino in the 81st minute then registered his name on the scores sheet in the 88th minute to complete the three goals for the away team.

With Jurgen Klopp's men playing hosts to Crystal Palace on the final day, this win over Burnley put them at advantage over Leicester who are also chasing the Champions League qualification.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Alisson Becker was the hero as Liverpool come from one goal down to beat West Bromwich Albion 2-1 in a thrilling Premier League encounter at The Hawthorns on Sunday, May 16.

The Brazilian goalkeeper threw everything on the line after leaving his goalpost to contend for the ball in what appeared to be the last kick of the game in the opposition's danger zone.

His move however paid off as Trent Alexander-Arnold's corner kick met his head and went straight into the top corner of the post.
