- Midfielder Ilkay Gundogan recently completed a switch to Barcelona
- He recently criticised his teammates following their El Clasico defeat
- He also appeared to snub the team photo at the Ballon d'Or ceremony
Ilkay Gundogan continues to claim the headlines in his early days with Barcelona in La Liga.
The German midfielder, who initially sparked reactions for his unexpected criticism of his teammates' attitudes following the El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid, has once again taken the spotlight due to his actions at the Ballon d'Or gala.
During the ceremony in Paris on October 30, the veteran midfielder surprised everyone by walking away from his team's group photo, as reported by Football Espana.
He was posing with goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, vice-president Rafa Yuste, president Joan Laporta, and defender Alejandro Balde when he suddenly decided to step away.
Balde appeared taken aback and initially attempted to bring Gundogan back but thought better of it. The former Manchester City captain's act has fueled speculation about his happiness at the La Liga club.
Gundogan unhappy at Barcelona?
Reports by the Spanish outlet, Sport suggest that Gundogan might be discontented with the support he and his family have received from the Catalan club.
According to the publication, the German and his partner, Sara Arfaoui feel 'abandoned' by Barcelona, as they had expected the club to assist them with various aspects of settling into the city, including housing and transportation.
It is worth noting that Gundogan had raised these concerns with the club directly, and Barcelona subsequently apologised to the veteran midfielder, acknowledging that improvements could be made.
Nonetheless, while the exact reason for his snubbing of the group photo remains unknown, he later expressed his delight with Barcelona during the gala, stating he is 'living the dream'.

Gundogan snubs Zidane, Ronaldo in El Clasico XI
Sports Brief previously reported on Barcelona's Gundogan excluding Real Madrid legends Zinedine Zidane and Ronaldo Nazario from his all-time El Clasico side.
In an unsurprising twist, the 33-year-old German's dream team predominantly featured players from Barcelona, with only two representatives from Real Madrid.
Gundogan adopted a 3-4-3 formation, with Marc Andre Ter Stegen guarding the goalposts, with Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique, and Sergio Ramos on the defence.
