BoxingGolden Arrows Coach Mabhuti Khenyeza Explains Why Fans Must Stop Criticising Bafana Coach Hugo Broos
- Hugo Broos is expected to lead Bafana Bafana to the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast
- The South Africa national team coach has faced heavy criticism in recent times
- Mabhuti Khenyeza has stated that Bafana Bafana have improved since the Belgian took over in 2021
The head coach of Lamontville Golden Arrows, Mabhuti Khenyeza, has stated that Bafana Bafana have improved under Hugo Broos since the Belgian arrived.
Khenyeza is unimpressed by the criticism faced by the tactician, saying that it is unwarranted.
South Africans are divided over Broos' performances since he was appointed in 2021, especially based on his selection and outspoken manner.
The former Cameroon national team manager has secured a qualification ticket for South Africa at the forthcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
He has also guided the team in defeating some of Africa’s top-ranked teams, including Morocco, while they also secured a draw away at Ivory Coast.
Khenyeza is making a case for the national team coach. The Golden Arrows boss said, via iDiski Times:
"Instead of just listening and what you can learn from that because that is how we learn. Let’s be honest, Bafana has improved a lot.
"We tend to think that when they have played against Eswatini [and failed to win], they are bad. But when they played against Ivory Coast away, they dominate the game and we keep quiet.
"And [they] played against Morocco, the people who reached the World Cup semi-final – being in the top four out of 32 teams and beating them and we kept quiet."
