Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Rema has expressed excitement after thrilling spectators at the 67th Ballon d'Or awards in Paris on Monday night.

Rema delivered an energy-filled performance as footballers, former players and fans were entertained at the Theatre du Chatelet.

The Calm Down singer took to social media to share his gratitude after meeting the stars of world football through his music.

"Afrobeat in Ballon d’Or! I’m truly grateful for the opportunity. Glory to the most high for the grace," he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

During his performance, popular American YouTuber, IshowSpeed could not help but dance to the soothing voice of Rema.

This is the second major sporting event stage that Rema has performed on in 2023, with the first being at the NBA All-Star Game.

Meanwhile, Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi was crowned the 2023 Ballon d'Or winner after beating Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to the gong, as reported by ESPN.

However, Haaland walked home with the Gerd Muller Award while Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham scooped the Kopa Trophy.

Manchester City and Barcelona Femini were named the Men and Female Team of the Year respectively.
