- Bellingham hoped to silence some of his critics who had been giving him grief
- The former Borussia Dortmund star has scored 13 goals in 13 games so far this season
Jude Bellingham is on fire for Real Madrid at the moment.
The English midfielder can’t stop scoring for the Spanish side, earning high praise from many for his performances.
As noted by Transfermarkt, Bellingham has already scored 13 goals in 13 games in all competitions for Los Blancos, including two against Barcelona in El Clasico.
While he has been lighting up La Liga, some have criticised the star. Bellingham recently admitted that some were "battering" him for scoring only close-range goals for Madrid.
As noted by 90 MIN, the 20-year-old spoke about the criticism, saying that he hoped his first goal against Barcelona would silence critics who accused him of only scoring tap-ins. The talented midfielder smashed the ball into the top corner of the net from outside the box, drawing Madrid level at that stage.
His second goal, which won the match for Los Blancos, was more in line with what he has scored this season, and he joked that people would not let him rest for it.
"Which one was my favourite Clasico goal? Probably the first one. I can imagine everyone battering me for the second one, I know I get a lot of grief for scoring tap-ins," he said.
He added that it was down to always being on the move and creating ‘your own luck’ when it came to those types of goals.
Bellingham then mentioned that he wanted to add something different to his repertoire, which is why he shot from the edge of the box for his first goal.
