FootballArsene Wenger Delivers Brutal Opinion on Manchester United: ‘They Have No Hope’
- Manchester United were beaten 3-0 at home by rivals Manchester City
- It was a totally lacklustre display from the Red Devils in their derby
- Former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger saw no improvement in the team
Former Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger was not impressed with what he saw from Manchester United in their 3-0 loss to Manchester City - and beyond that, he saw no hope.
United were totally dominated and beaten by their city rivals thanks to two goals from Erling Haaland, who also turned provider to Phil Foden for the Citizens' third goal.
The Red Devils' best chance fell to Marcus Rashford, who somehow missed from an impossible angle, summing up an uninspiring performance from Erik ten Hag's men.
Wenger's brutal assessment of Man Utd
FIFA's chief of global football development, Wenger was on punditry duty for beIN Sports and was straight to the point with his assessment of United after their poor performance.
"I would say the gulf between the two teams became bigger and bigger as the game went on. In the end, for such a big club, you felt sorry for Man United because there's no hope there in the team," he said.
"I don't see where they can improve, basically. This team has lost confidence, quality and even spirit today. I would say it was not a great fighting spirit from Man United, on top of that."
Per Team Talk, ten Hag has spent £410.3 million on 10 permanent signings since taking over the reins at Old Trafford last year.
This has led to groans from fans due to an apparent lack of improvement in the team despite the huge fee.
His decision to leave Raphael Varane on the bench and start a back-line of Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, and 35-year-old Jonny Evans, which he described as 'tactics', was not looked on with good eyes by the fans.

FootballWenger's assessment on Chelsea
Sports Brief also reported on Wenger's brutal assessment of Chelsea after his former rivals lost 2-0 in the London derby to Brentford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
He said the Blues looked lost during most of the game, especially in the last third, adding they looked like a midtable club - hence the team being only 11th on the table.
