Manchester United legend, Roy Keane has called for the axing of Bruno Fernandes as the club's captain.

Keane's call came moments after United were hammered 3-0 by rivals, Manchester City on Sunday, October 29, during their derby meeting.

According to Sky Sports, Erling Haaland found the back of the net twice to inspire City to victory, with Phil Foden also getting his name on the scoresheet with 10 minutes left on the clock.

This was United's fifth Premier League defeat this season in just 10 outings, with their disastrous run of form leaving them sitting eighth in the standings with just 15 points.

Keane wants Bruno axed as skipper

Keane, a former Man United skipper, has now suggested Fernandes should be stripped of the captaincy in the wake of the Manchester derby humiliation.

According to the former defender, he does not believe the Portuguese has what it takes to skipper the Red Devils.

"I would definitely take the captaincy off (Bruno Fernandes)," Keane told Sky Sports via ESPN. "He is the opposite of what I would want in a captain," he added.

Fernandes was named United's captain back in July, replacing Harry Maguire, who had been axed from the role by Erik ten Hag at the time.

The midfielder earned the responsibility on a permanent basis after wearing the armband a couple of times.

Pep pinpoints Man United's problems

Earlier, Sports Brief reported on Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola explaining United's possible problem after his side humiliated them on Sunday.

The two Premier League giants - one in fine form and the other struggling met at Old Trafford for their first Manchester derby of the season.

Man United were looking to secure a positive result from the cracker to build on their momentum after back-to-back victories in their recent EPL ties.
