According to OptaJose, the official stats account for La Liga on X (formerly Twitter), Madrid are now the fourth top-scoring side in 2023 in Europe’s top five leagues.

Sports Brief looks at the four top sides and how their goal-scoring form has helped them this year.

Borussia Dortmund

Under Edin Terzic, the Black and Yellow are finding the back of the net with ease and have notched up 78 goals already this year.

Dortmund’s attacking edge saw them challenge for the Bundesliga title last season, narrowly falling short to Bayern Munich on the final day due to a goal difference.

This season, they have continued their impressive form, going unbeaten in nine games in the league. They have also scored 20 goals in the Bundesliga alone.

Bayern Munich

Dortmund’s league rivals, Munich, are just a goal behind them. Thomas Tuchel’s side have scored 77 goals in 2023 so far and aren’t slowing down just yet.

Munich have scored 34 goals in the first nine games of the new Bundesliga season. With Harry Kane gelling well with his new teammates in Germany, Bayern will be looking to score many more this year.

Manchester City

The champions of Europe and England have banged in 72 goals this year, but at the rate they’re scoring, it’s guaranteed there will be a lot more to come.

Currently third on the Premier League table, City have already scored 22 goals this season.

With Ballon d’Or nominee, Erling Haaland leading the line and talented attacking stars like Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, and Julian Alvarez, the treble-winning side are always guaranteed to find the back of the net.

Atletico Madrid

The Spanish side are showcasing a different side of themselves so far in 2023.

Having scored 72 goals this year, they want to continue their impressive form. Simeone’s side are third in La Liga this season, three points off the pace, but with a game in hand.

With Antoine Griezmann and Alvaro Morata having scored nine goals each in all competitions this season, Madrid could be serious title contenders.

Atletico Madrid forward hails Alvaro Morata

Atletico Madrid's crucial victory against Deportivo Alaves, which saw them leapfrog Barcelona on the La Liga standings, was heralded by Spanish forward, Morata.

The 31-year-old striker played a pivotal role for Los Colchoneros, contributing both an assist and a goal to help the team significantly close the gap to the top of the table.

The Spanish national's exceptional form has not gone unnoticed, with his Atletico teammates lauding his efforts following yet another impressive display, per Sports Brief.
