Ilkay Gundogan’s critical comments following the El Clasico defeat to Real Madrid on Saturday, October 28, have not gone unnoticed by the Catalan club.
The German international opened his goalscoring mark for Barca in the game, only for the reigning La Liga champions to succumb to a defeat thanks to two Jude Bellingham goals.
Gundogan, after the game, blasted his teammates for showing a lack of passion immediately after the defeat, as he believed they should have been more frustrated and angry at losing to their bitter rivals.
According to Football Espana, the Barcelona coaching staff, as well as the club's sporting department, appreciate Gundogan's critical views, which they acknowledged were valid after the defeat to Real Madrid.
They recognise that the German international, who recently led Manchester City to winning the treble last season, has a winning mentality, which should be promoted inside Xavi Hernandez's squad.

Meanwhile, Ilkay Gundogan has made his feelings clear to his Barcelona teammates following the heartbreaking loss to rivals Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the season.
Defeat in El Clasico was Barca's first in all competitions this season, although draws against Getafe, Mallorca and Granada meant they went into the weekend in third place in the table, behind Madrid and Girona, per ESPN.
The result against Los Blancos means the reigning La Liga champions have now dropped to fourth on the league table following Atletico Madrid’s victory against Alaves on Sunday, October 29.
