FootballMan United 0:3 Man City: Guardiola Spotted Coaching Haaland at Full Time
- Manchester City beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford in the Manchester derby
- Erling Haaland scored twice and assisted Phil Foden for the third goal
- Pep Guardiola wanted more from his striker despite his goals
Pep Guardiola was not entirely satisfied with Erling Haaland's game in the 3-0 win over Manchester United despite the striker contributing to all three goals.
The Norwegian striker opened the scoring at Old Trafford from the penalty spot after Rasmus Hojlund pulled back Rodri during a freekick, and the video assistant referee intervened.
His second goal was a free header from a Bernardo Silva cross after he was left unmarked at the far post, and he beat Andre Onana in the second attempt after the goalkeeper saved his first in the second half.
Guardiola coaches Haaland at full time
As spotted by Athletic journalist Sam Lee, Guardiola was engrossed in a conversation with Haaland after the players applauded the fans at the away end.
It was hard to determine what was discussed, but the jumping gesture made by the striker during the conversation suggested it was about his header, which was saved before he scored a similar one.
Per Sky Sports, the gesture was not well received by the former Manchester United captain Roy Keane, who was on punditry for the game, and slammed the gesture as performative.
"All for show! You don't need to be on the pitch talking about it for five minutes. Just get down the tunnel, enjoy your victory!" he said.
Onana saves Haaland's header
Sports Brief also reported on Onana's brilliant save from Haaland's header in the first half of United's 3-0 loss to City.
The Red Devils could have gone into halftime two goals down if not for the save. The most embarrassing thing that happened was the defence allowing the routine to be repeated in the second half, and this time, the striker scored.

The Spaniard boss explained that the incident resulted from the Norwegian striker venting frustration at his teammate Bernardo Silva for not playing him in a promising position.
Haaland reiterated the story and affirmed he was happy with his manager's antics, as it exemplifies the fighting spirit in the team.
