  • Heung-min Son was on target once again as Tottenham Hotspur beat Crystal Palace 2-1
  • The Spurs skipper was spotted asking the referee if he wanted a sip of water
  • Spurs opened a five-point lead at the top of the table

Heung-min Son continued with his red-hot form start to the season, netting the second goal in Tottenham Hotspur's 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on October 27.

Ange Postecoglou's side went five points clear at the top of the table with the win at Selhurst Park ahead of their reunion with former manager Mauricio Pochettino next week.

James Maddison forced an own goal off James Ward in the second half after long periods of resilience from Roy Hodgson's men. Son then rounded the scoring with an assist from substitute and summer signing Brennan Johnson.

Postecoglou's charges were given a late scare after the Video Assistant Referee(VAR) allowed Jordan Ayew's late goal to stand despite it appearing to brush off his hand before he struck it.

Apart from the win, Son exhibited his well-mannered side once more. Immediately after Son's goal, Tyrick Mitchell went down and required treatment before the restart.

Son used the opportunity to dash to Palace's medical staff to quench his thirst. He is seen asking the medical personnel if he can use their water, to which he is granted.

The Spurs captain then turned around to see the centre referee, Andy Madley, approaching him. The South Korean is seen asking the official if he also wants a sip of water in what makes for wholesome viewing.

The 31-year-old is now up to 8 goals for the season, just one behind Erling Haaland, who plays in the Manchester derby on October 29.

Inside Ange Postecoglou's tactics

He was the reject, the very last option. Daniel Levy had approached the likes of Julian Nagelsmann, Gennaro Gattuso, and Arne Slot after Antonio Conte's departure, but none were interested in taking up the vacant seat at N17.

But as Sports Brief reported, Big Ange is sitting pretty at the top of the EPL summit, yet to taste defeat.

There have been big wins like the 2-0 against Manchester United and the 2-1 against Liverpool (VAR drama notwithstanding). In the same breath, there have been performances of digging deep to protect a lead (vs Luton) or hold on for a point (vs Arsenal).
