  • The two Manchester clubs lock horns once again in the derby
  • Bruno Fernandes has been crucial for Manchester United in recent editions of the clash against Man City
  • Should he score on Sunday, October 29, he would match a unique feat attained by Paul Scholes

All eyes will be on Manchester on Sunday, October 29 as the two sides prepare to take on each other in the 190th edition of the rivalry.

United go into the game in fairly decent form, having won their last three games across all competitions.

A morale-boosting 1-0 win over Copenhagen in the Champions League midweek also served as a prelude of what Erik ten Hag’s side can achieve if the team sticks together.

For Manchester City, they are just coming out of a rut after losing back-to-back away games.

Pep Guardiola will be looking to avoid making it three away defeats on the spin, which will be the first time that has happened in the Spaniard’s Manchester City reign.

In the last derby at Old Trafford, United delivered a remarkable comeback as Marcus Rashford scored the winner to ensure a 2-1 win, according to BBC.

If United win this one, it will be the first time they will have won three derbies in a row since doing so from 2008/09 to 2010/11.

Bruno Fernandes’ personal milestone

Away from overall achievements, one Manchester United star stands to get himself into the club’s history books should he score at Old Trafford tomorrow.

Bruno Fernandes, who has been crucial for Erik ten Hag’s side at the heart of the attack, has been an ever-lingering presence in the Manchester derby since joining the club in 2020.

The Portuguese superstar has scored in the last two Manchester derbies in all competitions, including his strike in United’s 2-1 defeat in the FA Cup final 148 days ago.

According to TalkSport, no United player has managed to score three times in the Manchester derby since Paul Scholes during the 2003/04 campaign, but that could change on Sunday if Fernandes manages to find the net.

That will certainly act as some extra motivation for the Manchester United midfielder ahead of the derby.

Sergio Aguero’s prediction

Sports Brief also reported on Sergio Aguero’ prediction ahead of the Manchester derby.

Aguero , who is the second-highest goal scorer in the history of the derby, gave a diplomatic answer when asked who would come out on top.

The Argentine predicts Man City will have a strong performance, but insisted United were no pushovers either.
