As Cavin Johnson nears his opening test against Golden Arrows on Saturday, the Pitso Mosimane rumours continue to dominate the off-field chatter.

Johnson has been brought in as interim coach, implying that he will be replaced when the right candidate is available.

For Kaizer Chiefs fans, the right candidate is Pitso Mosimane and his availability can not be confirmed soon enough.

All the signs point to Mosimane for a fairytale return to South Africa and the ensuing rivalry between master and apprentice.

TimesLive reported on South Africa's national team coach, Hugo Broos stating early in the season that Sundowns would walk away with the league title, and some feel only Mosimane can stop that from becoming the norm.

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger turned popular analyst, Junior Khanye, weighed in on Chiefs' managerial saga. He was quoted by iDiskiTimes as saying:

“Pitso, I believe, was also the right person. Honestly, I would love to see Cavin working with Pitso as well. The mess there, they need an arrogant person but who knows his story. “So Cavin and Pitso, the knowledge and the arrogance was going to help the team."

Soccer Laduma have claimed to have inside knowledge about the possible recruitment of Mosimane. The publication's source stated:

"Kaizer Chiefs are seriously considering Pitso at this moment. They are convinced he would be the one to change the fortunes at the club for the better."

The only stumbling block is his employment at Al Wahda, who sit 10th in the UAE Pro League after a run of three straight defeats.

Who knows if the Emirati fans are as fickle as their Chiefs counterparts, but any further losses and Mosimane could become available sooner rather than later.

Alternatives to Mosimane exist

Sports Brief recently compiled a list of managers that would be able to turn things around at Chiefs.

Johnson has as good a chance as any as he gets the opportunity to display first-hand what he can achieve.

Instability is unlikely to bring success, and what is needed now is a calm assessment and vision for the future.
