  • Liverpool beat French club Toulouse 5-1 in their group game of the UEFA Europa League
  • The Reds had five different goal-scorers, but the result could have gone the other way
  • At 3-1, Trent Alexander-Arnold made a brilliant goal-line block to preserve their two-goal lead

Trent Alexander-Arnold pulled off a moment of high IQ to preserve Liverpool's lead last night during their 5-1 win over Toulouse in the UEFA Europa League.

The Reds put five past the French club in their third group game in the European competition to maintain their perfect start and stay top of the group, which also has Union Saint-Gilloise and LASK.

Jurgen Klopp's men had five different goalscorers, including Japanese midfielder Wataru Endo, who scored his first goal for the club since his move from Stuttgart in the summer, per Caught Offside.

Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mohamed Salah were the other goal-scorers on a dominant night for the English club.

Alexander-Arnold makes brilliant block

Toulouse were not entirely poor on the night and had their threatening moments, one of which was the equaliser from Thijs Dallinga after Liverpool went ahead early in the game.

Another such moment was when left-back Gabriel Souza was through on goal after Caomin Kelleher misplaced a distribution. Trent, the captain on the night, quickly rushed to the goal and made a block with his knee from a one-on-one situation, as seen in a video shared on social media.

The fans applauded the action and yet again pushed against rival fans' agenda that the English full-back is not one of the best defenders but more of an offensive left-back.

Nunez misses empty net

Sports Brief reported on Darwin Nunez's horrible miss for Liverpool during last night's Europa League victory over French club Toulouse.

The Uruguayan striker was put through on goal, left a defender for dead, but rattled his effort off the goalpost. His blushes were saved by Gravenberch, who slotted him to make it 4-1.

Salah breaks Henry's record

Sports Brief also reported on Salah breaking Thierry Henry's record of the most goals scored for an English club in European competitions with his 43rd goal last night.

The Arsenal legend had 42 goals in UEFA competitions during his time at the Emirates Stadium, but the record now belongs to the Egyptian winger, who still has time to extend it.
