  • Gary Lineker believes Jude Bellingham could switch positions later in his career
  • Lineker wants the Real Madrid star to play as a centre forward for England
  • Bellingham has scored 11 goals in 12 games for Real Madrid this season

Jude Bellingham’s impressive goalscoring prowess this season has got former England international Gary Lineker calling for the Real Madrid star to switch his playing position in the future.

The 20-year-old midfielder has seen a phenomenal rise in his career after netting 11 goals in his first 12 appearances for Real Madrid following his summer switch from Borussia Dortmund.

According to Daily Mirror, Lineker has now tipped Bellingham to switch to a centre-forward role for England when Harry Kane retires from the national team in the future.

"The way he has started at Real gives Gareth Southgate a great option. If something happens to Harry Kane – or after he is finished because Harry is now 30 – Jude could play at centre-forward, as a false nine if you like.”

Bellingham was fantastic in England’s 3-1 win over Italy, which saw the Three Lions qualify for Euro 2024 with two games to spare.

Bellingham talks El Clasico memory

Meanwhile, Jude Bellingham has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘Calma’ celebration as one of his favourite El Clasico memories as he looks ahead to this weekend’s clash against Barcelona, MARCA reports.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been one of Carlo Ancelotti’s key players this season, netting in all but one game under the Italian tactician following his summer arrival from Borussia Dortmund.

Bellingham, who has scored 11 goals in 12 appearances for Real Madrid, will hope to play a key part in helping Los Blancos extend their lead at the top against the Catalans when both teams clash on Saturday, October 28.

Bellingham declares readiness for Barcelona

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Jude Bellingham has allayed the fears of Real Madrid fans, who are sweating on the Englishman’s fitness ahead of the first El Clasico of the 2023/24 season.

The 20-year-old midfielder trained alone from the rest of the squad on Thursday after suffering a knock in Los Blancos’ Champions League victory against Sporting Braga in midweek.

Bellingham came off with a muscle strain in the final minutes against the Portuguese side, sparking rumours that he would not recover in time to feature against Barcelona on Saturday, October 28.
