Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali is the latest to receive a worldwide ban for betting amid the ongoing betting scandal that has rocked Italian football.
Tonali received a 10-month suspension after he was reported to have cooperated with authorities, similar to Juventus midfielder Nicolo Fagioli, who received a seven-month ban.

Fagioli was the first to be pinned by the Turin Prosecutor in the ongoing investigation into illegal betting in Italy. He was handed a seven-month ban. Per Goal, he claimed Tonali introduced him to the platforms and also implicated Nicolo Zaniolo.

FootballThe Nottingham Forest defender was banned for five months and fined £20,000 for breaching FA betting rules on 375 occasions, as reported by The Athletic. He was the second player in English football to be suspended recently for the offence.
Brentford striker Ivan Toney was slapped with an eight-month ban after he was convicted of breaching FA betting rules on 232 occasions and was fined £50,000. He was also diagnosed with addiction and was said to have received a minimal sentence for cooperating with authorities.
The former Liverpool striker was suspended for four months in 2020 and fined £150,000 after he told his brother to place a bet on a possible move to Sevilla, which eventually collapsed. He was contracted to Trabzonspor then, and the Turkish club terminated his contract.
In 2017, the controversial English midfielder was banned for 18 months, reduced to 13 on appeal after placing 1,260 bets in 10 years. The suspension forced him to end his career and retire professionally.

His failure to cooperate with authorities earned him one year as part of his suspension, meaning he is suspended till 2034.
