Boniface, however, made the most goal contributions, finishing top of the podium with eight goal contributions while playing for Belgium side Union Saint-Gilloise, as reported by uefa.com.

"Aboki go think say na iron," he wrote on social media in Nigerian pidgin, which literally means my friend will think it's iron.

The 22-year-old joined Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window and has been in fine form for the German giants.

The talented forward scored and provided an assist in Leverkusen's 5-1 thrashing of Qarabag in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Boniface has already won the Player of the Month award in Germany and was also voted the best young player in the Bundesliga in September.

He is expected to play a huge role at Bayer Leverkusen as they chase the league title this season.

Boniface scores as Leverkusen beat Qarabag

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Nigerian international Victor Boniface netted a screamer in Bayer Leverkusen's 5-1 win over Qarabag in a UEFA Europa League meeting at the BayArena.

It took just four minutes before Leverkusen opened the scoring at home through 20-year-old attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz.

But soon, the visitors restored parity after they were gifted a penalty converted by Toral Bayramov in the 16th minute.

Premier League club interested in Boniface

Sports Brief also reported that English Premier League side Newcastle are interested in bringing Victor Boniface to England next summer.

The Nigerian striker has been impressive for Bayer Leverkusen since joining the club from Belgian side Union SG in the summer.

Boniface has been enjoying his time under Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso, with his performances being noticed by top clubs in Europe.
