Former captain of the Black Stars, Stephen Appiah, has visited the victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage, making a donation to support the displaced families.

Appiah was joined by the Chief Executive Officer of Wembley Sports Construction Limited, Mr Robert Coleman, and Joy Sports journalist, Nathaniel Attoh, to support the victims of the devastating spillage.

Several families had to leave their homes due to the effect of the overflowing Akosombo Dam a fortnight ago.

"I don't even know what to say. I am shocked with what I have seen this afternoon. I am even getting emotional," Appiah told Joy Sports.
"I have been asking my self what if I was in the same situation with my family. I have been seeing pictures and we have been watching television. Being here is different, the feeling is different and I am so so sad," he added.

Appiah, together with Mr Coleman and Mr Attoh, donated several items and an undisclosed amount of money to the people of Mepe in the Oti Region.

Member of Parliament of the North Tongu constituency, Honourable Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, received the items on behalf of the people.

"Thank you very much. On behalf of my people, we want to express our gratitude to you, the CEO of Wembley Sports and our icon, the legend Stephen Appiah. We are very grateful you have remembered us in this time of excruciating pain and difficulty. God bless you," said the MP.

Appiah is revered in Ghana for his role in leading the country to their first-ever World Cup, as reported by Pulse.
