Real Madrid coasted to victory against Portuguese side Sporting Braga in their match-day three UEFA Champions League clash.
The victory for Carlo Ancelotti's side, which saw them maintain their lead against rivals SSC Napoli, had the name of Brazilian star Vinicius Jr. written all over it.
The 23-year-old forward was named Player of the Match, as reported by Goal. He teed up both Rodrygo de Goes and Jude Bellingham to secure victory on the night for his side.
While fans and many across the football world were full of praise for the young forward, a Barcelona spokesman has lashed out at him, labelling him 'a clown'.
Barcelona spokesman lashes out at Vinicius
As reported by Madrid Zone, Mikel Camps, an executive board spokesperson of the Catalan club, took to social media to talk about Vinicius.
Referring to the young forward's show of skill during the game, he posted a tweet which was translated as follows:
"It's not racism. He deserves a slap for being a clown. These stepovers are unnecessary and meaningless on a football pitch."
Vinicius' teammates were quick to jump to his support, and following the conclusion of the match, forward Rodrygo labelled the tweet as 'embarrassing' in his post-match interview.
The now-deleted tweet has also been met with lots of backlash from fans across social media.
This controversy unfolded just days before the highly anticipated El Clasico match, further intensifying the age-old rivalry between the two iconic clubs.
