Spanish La Liga president Javier Tebas has recently pushed for a significant salary raise, which will put him amongst football's highest-earning administrators.
This 61-year-old who remains a divisive figure in Spanish football, has seen a majority of his recent decisions have him at loggerheads with several Spanish clubs, notably Real Madrid.
These disputes often revolve around issues such as the failed European Super League project, the sale of CVC's stake in La Liga, and the salary cap imposed on the clubs.
It hardly came as a surprise to many when media outlet Sport reported Real Madrid as one of the two clubs opposing Tebas' salary increase.

FootballAccording to a report citing El Español, the majority of clubs in Spain's first and second divisions have voted in favour of raising the annual salary of Javier Tebas from €3.36 million to €5.4mil.
However, it is worth noting that not all clubs are content with Tebas' performance and remuneration. Two clubs, including Real Madrid, voted against this proposed salary increase.
While the identity of the second dissenting club remains undisclosed, it is evident that Tebas' new salary will position him in the same earnings bracket as Barcelona's head coach Xavi Hernandez, who reportedly earns €5 million annually.
This increment will also make Tebas one of the highest-paid administrators in the world of football, surpassing notable figures such as UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin and FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Critics, as reported by Managing Madrid, have raised concerns regarding the timing and transparency of Tebas' salary raise, especially given the financial challenges faced by many La Liga clubs, including Valencia, Celta Vigo, and Barcelona.

FootballNonetheless, Tebas has defended the increase in his salary, asserting that it is just a reward for his work. The 61-year-old also announced his intention to seek another term as president of La Liga.
In related content, Sports Brief previously reported on Tebas trolling Ligue 1's Paris Saint-Germain at an event he attended recently.
He used the platform to emphasise La Liga's financial prudence, highlighting recent transactions by Barcelona as a shining example.
Boasting about Spain's commitment to fiscal responsibility, Tebas criticised PSG and also questioned the club's 'pace of investment'.
