Talk about longevity.
Sergio Ramos is 37 years old at the moment, but he’s proved that he still has what it takes to start big games for his club side.
The former Real Madrid star, who now plays for Sevilla, started for the Spanish side in their UEFA Champions League fixture against Arsenal and reached a unique milestone in the process.
As noted by Squawka, Ramos brought up his 140th appearance in the elite European tournament when he started against The Gunners.
More impressively, he has started all 140 of those games.
Sadly for the Spaniard, his milestone game ended in defeat, as Arsenal beat Sevilla 2-1. Goals from Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli were enough for the English side to pick up the win.
According to Transfermarkt, three of those appearances have been for Sevilla, eight for Paris Saint-Germain, while the rest have come in the colours of Los Blancos.
He also has scored 15 goals in the tournament, with all his goals coming for Madrid.
Who has the most UCL appearances?
While 140 games is quite a feat, Ramos is still way behind Cristiano Ronaldo at the top of the appearance table.
UEFA reported that Ronaldo leads the way with 183 appearances in the tournament, while his former Madrid teammate Iker Casillas has 177 appearances.
Lionel Messi is third on the list with 163 Champions League games.
