Kaizer Chiefs seem to be going back to the drawing board following the sacking of Molefi Ntseki on Monday, October 23, after a poor string of results.

The club have appointed eight managers in the last five years as they continue to struggle to get the desired results.

A decision to axe the Amakhosi tactician was reached after the club’s hierarchy meeting, with Ntseki’s contract terminated by mutual agreement.

This came barely 48 hours after Kaizer Chiefs were knocked out of the Carling Knockout Cup by Amazulu.

Angry supporters gathered near the tunnel and began hurling bottles at the beleaguered Chiefs boss after his side managed 12 shots on goal and just two of those on target.

This was not the first time this season such an incident occurred.

Following the termination of Nteski’s contract, Cavin Johnson, who joined the club as Head of the Youth Development Academy, will be in charge on an interim basis, a club statement said.

Coaches have not had it easy with Amakhosi as the club have appointed seven other managers in the last five years, and all have been sacked.

Below are seven managers appointed by Kaizer Chiefs in the last five years

  1. Steve Komphela (Apr 2018)
  2. Giovanni Solinas (Dec 2018)
  3. Ernst Middendorp (Sep 2020)
  4. Gavin Hunt (May 2021)
  5. Stuart Baxter (Apr 2022)
  6. Arthur Zwane (June 2023)
  7. Molefi Ntseki (Oct 2023)

Cavin Johnson compared to Pitso Mosimane

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Kaizer Chiefs striker Siphelele Mthembu compared the Amakhosi's new interim coach, Cavin Johnson, to former Mamelodi Sundowns manager Pitso Mosimane.

Johnson comes in as a temporary replacement for Molefi Ntseki, who was sacked earlier today after a poor run of form.

Johnson, who was the club's Head of the Youth Development Academy, will still work with the team assistant coach, Dillon Sheppard.
