FootballChristophe Galtier: Ex PSG Boss Unveils Plan To Stop Ronaldo Ahead of AFC Champions League Showdown
- Christophe Galtier has disclosed his plan to stop Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr
- Galtier, formerly of PSG, will take on Al-Nassr on Tuesday, October 24 in the Asian Champions League
- The Frenchman currently handles Qatari champions Al-Duhail
Former Paris Saint-Germain manager, Christophe Galtier has unveiled his strategy to contain Cristiano Ronaldo and the formidable Al-Nassr attack in preparation for Al-Duhail's upcoming AFC Champions League clash with the Knights of Najd.
Galtier, who led PSG to a triumphant Ligue 1 title and French Super Cup victory last season, recently departed from the club after a brief one-year tenure.
However, the seasoned French tactician swiftly returned to the coaching scene, taking over the reins at Al-Duhail, per Reuters, following the departure of former Argentine striker Hernan Crespo due to a series of disappointing results.
Since his appointment, Galtier has swiftly made an impact, guiding the reigning Qatari champions to a victory against Al-Gharafa in the QSL Cup. He is aiming to build on this success as they prepare to face Al-Nassr as the visiting team.
Standing in Galtier's path to securing three crucial points is Al-Nassr, spearheaded by the prolific Cristiano Ronaldo, who has been delivering exceptional performances since the beginning of the current season.
With an impressive tally of 11 goals in nine Saudi Pro League games and a staggering 41 goals in the calendar year, Ronaldo poses a formidable threat to Al-Duhail's ambitions.
Galtier's plan to stop Ronaldo and Al-Nassr
Having closely observed Ronaldo's contributions in the AFC Champions League, Galtier is well aware of the potency that Ronaldo and his attacking partner Anderson Talisca bring to the table.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming match, Galtier has meticulously devised a game plan aimed at neutralizing the influence of the Portuguese star and his fellow teammates, especially considering their recent exhibition of superb free-kick prowess against Damac over the weekend.
“I watched the last match of Al-Nassr, and of course, we saw the goals of Cristiano and Talisca, so the first point is that we must avoid mistakes in the close areas and defend well,” he said, as cited by The Nassr Zone.

Ronaldo hints at possible retirement
Meanwhile, Sports Brief reported that Ronaldo is contemplating retiring from football when his current contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr expires in 2025.
The 38-year-old forward was speaking after he helped Al-Nassr get a 2-1 win against Damac in their Saudi Pro League match on Saturday, October 21.
Ronaldo hinted that he might consider walking away from the sport that has made him famous when he properly examines his body at the end of his present deal.
