Kaizer Chiefs have parted ways with Molefi Ntseki. Cavin Johnson, who recently joined Chiefs as Head of the Youth Development Academy, will take over as the first team coach on an interim basis.

Club officials held a meeting on Monday, October 23, and Ntseki’s contract was terminated amicably by mutual consent.

The decision was reached following the recent poor string of results, and the parties agreed that it was time to go separate ways.

According to an official statement by the club, Cavin Johnson, who recently joined the club as the Head of the Youth Development Academy, will take over as the first team coach.

Johnson will hold the position on an interim basis, while the team assistant coach, Dillon Sheppard, will work under Johnson.

Recall that Ntseki was initially appointed as the head of technical and youth development of the club in June 2021 before taking over as the head coach in June this year.

Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. said in a statement:

“I would like to thank Coach Ntseki for his contribution to the club since he arrived here, both at the development level and with the senior team. We wish him success in his future endeavours.”

For his part, Ntseki thanked the club’s chairman and board of directors for giving him the opportunity to manage a team as great as Amakhosi.

Chiefs fans humiliate Ntseki

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ntseki required a police escort at the end of Kaizer Chiefs' 1-0 Carling Knockout Cup defeat to Amazulu.

Angry supporters gathered near the tunnel and again began hurling bottles at the beleaguered Chiefs boss after his side managed 12 shots on goal, with just two of those on target.

Ntseki had anguish written all over his face at the final whistle, anticipating the backlash he would receive from a demanding supporter base.
