FootballJude Bellingham Fires Blank As Dani Carvajal Secures Draw for Real Madrid Against Sevilla
- Real Madrid visited the Sanchez Pizjaun to take on Sevilla
- Jude Bellingham could not add to his impressive goal tally on the evening
- Daniel Carvajal secured a draw on the night for Carlo Ancelotti's side
Real Madrid maintained their position at the top of the league table, but their journey was far from smooth as they settled for a draw against Sevilla.
Initially, Los Blancos thought they had seized an early advantage with midfielder Federico Valverde finding the back of the net in the fourth minute, only for the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) to disallow the goal due to an offside call against Jude Bellingham.
The La Liga leaders who subsequently found it difficult to break the Andalusian club's defensive unit for a considerable part of the game, fell behind to a fortuitous strike from Moroccan forward Youssuf El Nesyri, which would eventually be credited as an own goal to defender David Alaba in the 74th minutes.
Just four minutes later, right-back Dani Carvajal earned a freekick after a clumsy tackle from Lucas Ocampos, and the defender was on hand to convert the opportunity following a cross from Toni Kroos.
As reported by Goal, the game would eventually feature a late altercation in the 84th minute when Vinicius Jr shoved goalkeeper Orjan Nyland — an act which earned the Brazilian and a host of other players a spot in the referee's book.
On the other hand, marquee midfielder Bellingham, who had an underwhelming showing on the night, could do little to inspire Carlo Ancelotti's men.
The Spanish giant's stoppage time charge for a winner would further be truncated by both Sergio Ramos and the Danish goalkeeper — who again was instrumental in stopping Kroos' late freekick, which would ensure new coach Diego Alonso starting his reign at the Sanchez Pizjaun on a positive note.

FootballLa Liga standings after Real Madrid stalemate
The draw meant that Real Madrid's lead over Girona was reduced to three points. A victory for the Catalan club in their fixture against struggling UD Almeria could propel them to joint leadership in the standings alongside Los Blancos.
On the other hand, Sevilla's draw moved them further away from the relegation zone, providing some relief, as reported by Fotmob.
Carlo Ancelotti's men will look to put their sloppy draw behind them as quickly as they can as they prepare for their next league clash against rivals Barcelona.
Wayne Rooney predicts Bellingham's form dip
Sports Brief in a previous report stated Birmingham City manager Wayne Rooney has predicted a dip in form for midfielder Jude Bellingham.
The young manager also drew the attention of the fans to an imminent dip in form on the horizon for the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder during his press conference ahead of his side's clash against Middlesborough.
